2018 TOUR TICKETS
2018 Hollin Hills House + Garden Tour
Saturday, April 28, 2018
Noon - 6:00 pm
Rain or shine
Hollin Hills, the award-winning mid-century modern neighborhood in Alexandria, VA, will host a House & Garden Tour on Saturday, April 28, 2018. This self-guided walking tour will showcase stunning examples of mid-century modern architecture and landscape.
The 326-acre neighborhood south of Old Town was built from the late 1940s to the early 1970s by developer Robert Davenport and renowned architect Charles Goodman. Hollin Hills was the first community in the Washington, DC Metro area to be made up entirely of contemporary homes.
Recognized many times in the past for its architectural and design vision, Hollin Hills was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2013, and is a Virginia Landmark Historic District.
How do I purchase tickets?
Tickets may be purchased in advance online while supplies last or until April 25, 2018 at midnight for $30.
If the tour is not sold out by the day of the tour, tickets will be available for purchase at registration for $40. We will accept cash or credit card for day-of ticket purchases.
When you purchase tickets online, you also have the opportunity to purchase the official tour poster (at right) and/or the Hollin Hills: Community of Vision book as well. If you purchase these items with your ticket, they'll be ready for you to pick up at registration the day-of the event. (We will not be able to ship these items.)
Posters and books will also be available for purchase at day-of registration as well.
Where do I pick up my pre-paid tickets?
Registration and ticket pick up will take place 11:00 am - 5:00 pm. on the day of the tour (April 28). (Registration location TBD.) There are no refunds, including for inclement weather.
Can I bring children or pets on the tour?
Children under 12 years of age will be admitted free, but must be closely supervised in all houses and gardens. No pets are allowed on the tour.
How many houses and gardens will be featured on the tour?
The tour will feature at least 10 houses and gardens.
What is the tour route?
The tour is self-guided and features houses and gardens that are located throughout the neighborhood. Our volunteers will recommend a cluster of houses and gardens for you to start your tour, and you may visit these houses and gardens in any order. Given the size of our neighborhood, you may find it easier to drive from one cluster to another. Please note, we do not make public the list of houses or gardens prior to the tour.
Any additional information I should know about attending the tour?
In an effort to protect the floors of the homes, attendees will be required to wear booties inside all of the homes. The booties - disposable covers that go on easily over your shoes - will be provided complimentary.
Photography of home interiors will be allowed at select homes. Please refer to signage at the entrance of each home and if you are unsure, please feel free to ask a docent.
Where do the funds raised from the tour go?
The proceeds from the tour goes to the Civic Association of Hollin Hills which is dedicated to the preservation and enhancement of the Hollin Hills community.
